In an attempt to justify the decision to rest first-choice players during the first leg of the Tri-Nations series, Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says that 21 players were sidelined by injuries.
The list includes nine players who have gone from 32 to 12 against the All Blacks in the Tri-Nations 2010 opener at Eden Park and eight players who started against England at the end of the European tour of the last year.
However, 11 of these "injured" players seemed to come through their latest games free, including contingent Stormers Andries Bekker, Francois Louw, Bryan Habana, Jean de Villiers and Jaque Fourie, who have all made a run at discontinuation of the final whistle in the last weeks 29-10 loss against the Crusaders at Newlands.
